As part of the Arqus Alliance, Leipzig University and the Università degli Studi di Padova are organizing a joint seminar on climate justice from 8 to 11 April 2025. German and Italian students and academics will meet in Padua for the seminar and discuss domestic, European and International climate law jurisdiction.
Interested students can apply until February 26th via mail to Ali Murtaza. Please attach your application a letter of motivation and short CV and name two of the topics below on which you would like to present. Five students can be selected for participation.

- Climate protection laws in Germany and Italy
- The ICJ advisory opinion on state obligations to take climate protection measures
- ECHR decision in the case of Verein Klimasenionrinnen Switzerland and Others v. Switzerland April 9, 2024
- Strategic litigation - the enforcement of collective interests (climate protection) in German administrative jurisdiction and in Italian civil jurisdiction
Participants are expected to work in groups with another Italian student and give a 20 min presentation together of the topic (Thursday and Friday). The seminar will be held in English. A language certificate can be obtained after successfully completing the presentation and after full attendance of the seminar.
The seminar is financially supported by Arqus Alliance, therefore the travel and accommodation costs of the participants will be covered by Arqus.
